Success Story: The Slow and Steady Approach of My 60/60 MSFT Short Put Spread Bot
Dear Options Alpha Community,
I hope this message finds you all well and prospering in your trading endeavors. Today, I'm excited to share the journey and success of my 60/65 (60 days at 65%) MSFT Short Put Spread trading bot, which has truly embodied the adage "slow and steady wins the race."
This bot, currently in its fifth or sixth iteration, has been meticulously designed to avoid opening positions sequentially and too soon. By doing so, it skillfully navigates potential market dips, sacrificing opportunities from sudden climbs but steadily churning and filling the piggy bank.
What sets this version apart is its remarkable performance in backtesting, yielding the highest return imaginable at over 12,000%, with only two drawdowns during the last well-known market crash. This impressive result highlights the bot's resilience and strategic approach, proving that sometimes, patience and caution can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
There are a couple of other versions out there, but none match the performance of this one. The key takeaway from this experience is the importance of timing and discretion in trading. Perhaps, next time, we'll know to pause our bots during tumultuous market conditions!
I have been running this bot live since March 2023, and I'm pleased to share its progress with you. Below are some pictures that illustrate its journey and success. I hope this inspires confidence in the slow and steady approach and encourages all of us to continue refining our strategies for even greater achievements.
Best regards,
Josh
About 3/4 of the trades I've made. No way to export that I can find.
All in all, this started out slow. I set it at $10K and 1 trade at a time. Now it is at $30K and 2 trades at a time with 45% of net liquid. I have fooled around a few ways but this works well for me but I am a beginner.
Happy Trading!
