Bot level inputs enable you to send an automation’s custom inputs to the bot level. With bot-level inputs, any input can be edited in the bot settings when you create or clone a new bot.
You do not have to use bot-level inputs. The benefit of using bot-level inputs is all decisions will be transferred to any automation using the input.
Custom inputs (:42)
You can add custom inputs to any automation. Selecting an automation in the Automations tab displays the inputs used in the automatIon.
All of these custom inputs are at the automation level, meaning the automation itself has custom inputs, but they are not bot-level inputs.
Looking at the bot’s global settings, there are no bot-level inputs.
Creating bot-level inputs (2:02)
If you have multiple automations running inside a bot with custom inputs using the same decision fields, you would need to change the inputs for each automation. Bot level inputs make the process more efficient.
For example, this bot uses RSI levels as part of its decision making. Each automation uses different RSI inputs when referencing market data for the underlying symbol. If you wanted to change the RSI length to 20 or the RSI High Level setting to 90 for both automations, you would need to make those changes individually.
With bot level inputs, the decision making is transferred from the automation to the bot level for the specific field. This is incredibly useful if you have multiple automations running inside a bot.
To create a bot-level input, select the blue icon next to the input field.
This enables you to add an input to your bot’s setting screen.
You can give the bot input a label and description, and set the default value. The default value will flow through to any “High RSI” level connected to the input.
A new BOT RSI High Level custom input is created that can be used at the bot level.
The decision-making process is now sent to the highest level possible inside a bot. Any decisions made at the bot’s global settings will automatically be sent to any automation using the input in the bot.
Adding an input to an automation (4:30)
To add the custom input to another automation in the bot, select the automation to edit and the input’s field.
Select the blue icon again and the custom input is available to connect to the bot level input.
Global settings (5:01)
All of the decisions for high RSI levels have been sent to the bot level. The bot’s settings display the bot level inputs.
The input can easily be edited from the settings page and the changes will be applied to all automations using the input.
Bot level inputs are a fantastic way to quickly make changes to an input and have those changes flow through to all automations inside the bot. This saves you time and gives you dynamic flexibility when modifying a bot’s settings.
