All trading activity occurs during regular trading hours, with some exceptions, such as pre-market trading and after-hours trading.Β
For index futures markets, trading is open 23 hours and 15 minutes per day. Regular trading hours are weekdays from 9:30 a.m. EST to 4:15 p.m. EST.
The market closes from 4:15 p.m. EST until 4:30 p.m. EST every weekday. Markets then reopen from 4:30 p.m. EST until 5:00 p.m. EST. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. EST, the market closes for one hour and resumes trading as a new session at 6:00 p.m. EST.
On Fridays, trading concludes at 5:00 p.m. EST and re-opens at 6:00 p.m. EST Sunday.
